Govt to repair 11,000 irrigation tanks: CM

Vizianagaram, Jan 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government would take up repair works of 11,000 irrigation tanks in 13 districts, at a cost of Rs 572 crore, to augment irrigation facilities in the agricultural sector.

Dr Reddy, who is on a two-day visit to this district, said an additional 7 lakh acres would be brought under cultivation after the repair works were completed.

The Chief Minister said the repair works would provide employment to the poor.
