Government yet to take decision on introducing prohibition
Gulbarga, Jan 8 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today clarified that the Government was yet to take a final decision on introduction of Prohibition in the State.
However, it is under active consideration of the government, he added.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that "there is pressure from various Women Organisations to introducing Prohibition. I would discuss with officials on how to compensate the loss if Prohibition was introduced." The Chief Minister said that banning lotteries in the State was also under consideration of the Government as thousands of families were ruined due to lottery menace. " Through lotteries the State was earning Rs 180 Crore and now if it was banned the government has to search for other avenue to compensate the loss", he added. he informed.
Replying to a question, he said that the Munnuru village in the District, where he stayed last night, would be developed under 'Gramodaya Scheme.
Later, addressing a meeting organised by the Hyderabad-Karnataka Chamber of Commerce, he said that 10 Districts were chosen for setting up IT Parks and top priority would be given to Gulbarga District.
