Ganguly regrets missed chance of winning Test series in SAfrica
Kolkata, Jan 8 (UNI) Sourav Ganguly on his return from South Africa today said he was pleased with his performance, but the regret of not being able to win the series there will remain.
Ganguly made a comeback into the Indian squad after nine months in the cold and was the most successful batsman in the Test series accumulating 214 runs in three Tests with an average of 42.80.
Sachin Tendulkar was second with 199 runs.
On touching base here today, Ganguly said, ''I am pleased with my comeback and the way things have gone for me.'' ''However, the missed opportunity of winning a Test series in South Africa will be there. We played well in the Test. But the last two days made the difference,'' he said.
He, however, said he was not thinking about World Cup now. ''We have lots of matches before that. We have a home series to play. I am thinking about the immediate assignments,'' he added.
