CPM resents leasing out of park land to Shimla MLA

Shimla, Jan 8 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the CPM today resented the leasing out of park land to local MLA, Harbhajan Singh, Bhajji, saying it violated the Supreme Court's order that said land use could not be changed.

''It is shocking that the state government has leased out park land near Himurja building in Kasumpati area of the town to Mr Bhajji for commercial purposes,'' party's Shimla district secretary Sanjay Chauhan said in a release here.

Demanding cancellation of allotment of land to the legislator, the party said the leasing out of the land was against the court's order that prohibited change of land use.

Mr Chauhan said the state government had influenced the Housing Board Department to allow the leasing of land to Mr Bhajji for a 99-year period.

The land should strictly be used for the purpose it had been earmarked, he added.
