CPM not against farmer's interests: Karat
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 8 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) will not take any stand against the interests of farmers either in West Bengal of in any part of the country, party General Secretary Prakash Karat said today.
Responding to questions from mediapersons at the airport here on the continuing farmers' agitation in Singur against the acquisition of farmland for Tata small car project, Mr Karat said it was the CPI(M) governments, which brought land reforms and it would not go against the interests of the farmers.
Mr Karat is here to attend the CPI(M) state secretariat meeting which began today.
