CITU protests Mah Govt's plan to abolish 1391 posts in ESIC hospital

Mumbai, Jan 8 (UNI) The Maharashtra State Committee secretary of the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) today strongly protested the government's plan to abolish 1391 posts in 12 ESIC hospitals in the state.

CITU's State Committee secretary P R Krishnan demanded that the government should refrain from resorting to abolish 1391 posts from 12 ESIC hospitals in the state. The move is ''unwarranted and anti-working class,'' he added.

On one side the government has been reducing treatment and hospitalisation facilities in the state-run hospitals, which has resulted in great inconvenience and hardships to common people, he alleged in a release here.

In fact, the ESIC scheme covers 15 lakh employees and their families in Maharashtra.

For the smooth running of the hospitals, the government should increase the posts rather than reducing the same, the release added.
