New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) The upset win over Brazillian Thiago Alves in Chennai Open last week saw Karan Rastogi jump a remarkable 109 places in the ATP rankings released today.

Rastogi is now at 371st from previous week's 480 after his 6-3, 6-4 victory over Alves, who was ranked more than 350 places above him then, in the first round in Chennai, though he later lost to World Number two Rafael Nadal in the pre-quarterfinals.

The 20-year-old from Mumbai, whose career-high rank was 327 which he achieved in June last year, had also won the ITF Men's Futures tennis tournament here last month.

Rohan Bopanna, who teamed up with Sania Mirza to put up a fine show at the Hopman Cup mixed team championship in Perth last week, slipped 28 places to 290 but still retained the highest rank among Indians ahead of Harsh Mankad who remained static at 319 while Prakash Amritraj lost 38 places to occupy 431st place.

In the ATP doubles individual chart, Leander Paes moved up one place to 11th while his estranged partner Mahesh Bhupathi remained static at 30th from his previous year-end rankings.

Both Paes and Bhupathi will play in the Medibank International tennis tournament in Sydney this week.

While Paes pairs up with Czech Martin Damm, with whom he returned runners-up in the season-opening Qatar Open in Doha, Bhupathi will team up with Fabrice Santoro of France.
