Bill to increase seats in MCD House passed in Delhi Assembly

New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) The Delhi Legislative Assembly today passed a Bill seeking to more than double the number of seats in the MCD house.

The Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2007, which seeks to increase the number of seats in the MCD House from 134 at present to ''not less than 272 and not more than 300'', was passed at a special session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly called to discuss the draft proposals of the Master Plan 2021.

The Bill, which was introduced for consideration in the Assembly by Delhi Finance and Urban Development Minister A K Walia on Saturday, was passed by voice vote.

The objective of the Bill is to have one MCD ward per 50000 people in a particular area.
