21 UP cadre IAS officers selected for election duty in Manipur

Lucknow, Jan 8 (UNI) Altogether 21 Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officers from Uttar Pradesh cadre have been selected for poll duties in insurgency-hit Manipur, where assembly election is scheduled next month.

According to sources, these officials -- to be deputed as central observers -- will attend an Election Commission (EC) meeting at New Delhi on January 10.

This time, UP officials will be deputed for Manipur only as no state officer would be engaged in Punjab or Uttarakhand polls.
