Two Jaish militants among five killed in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jan 7 (UNI) Two militants of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e- Mohammad (JeM) were among five people killed while security forces arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) ultra in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.
Police and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel laid an ambush at Dalwan in Charar-e-Sharief area following a specific information regarding presence of militants in the village.
Two militants, who were caught in the ambush, started firing indiscriminately on security forces, he said, adding in the retaliatory fire, two Jaish militants were gunned down.
The slain ultras have been identified as Shabir Ahmed Rather and Muzammil Jehadi. Two AK-47 rifles along with six magazines were also seized from them.
The spokesman said police recovered the throat-slit body of 28-year-old Faisal Amin Bhat from Khushal Matoo in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district early this morning.
Bhat had reportedly been a close associate of LeT militant Munna Janwari, who was killed by security forces on Eid-ul-Zuha on January one this year.
Havaldar Mohammad Ishaq of Territorial Army succumbed to wounds in the hospital early today. He was wounded in a grenade blast at Shopian in south Kashmir yesterday in which two people were killed and 25 others, including four soldiers, wounded.
Police said a woman died in mysterious circumstances at Malangam Bandipora in Baramulla district last night.
The spokesman said security forces apprehended a Lashkar militant, identified as Bilal Ahmad Najar, at Bathara-Lach village in Handwara area of Kupwara district last night.
Two Chinese hand grenades were also seized from his possession.
Security forces busted a militant hideout at Derri Rayiate forests in Rajouri district of Jammu region last night and seized an AK assault rifle, two pistols, two wireless sets, five hand grenades, nine magazines, 170 rounds and some medicines from there.
