TN police working a matter of concern: Jaya
Chennai, Jan 7 (UNI) AIADMK supremo and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa expressed apprehensions against the state police's working and said they needed to act in a more 'responsible'' manner while discharging their duties.
In a statement here, Ms Jayalalithaa alleged that a ruling DMK MLA, V S Babu, representing Purasaivakkam in the State Assembly, recently entered into the ICF police station in the city along with his supporters and forcibly got a rowdy element released from the station lock-up.
The incident was enough to prove that the DMK men were interfering in the administration of the state police, she alleged.
Ms Jayalalithaa also said that neither the police department nor the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who is holding the Home portfolio, took any action against Mr Babu.
She also cited another example of how violence had taken place in the recent local bodies polls in the city with the interference of the DMK men and officials in the police administration.
She alleged that the action of the police during the local bodies elections and subsequent incidents, disturbing the law and order situation in the state had created an apprehension that Mr Karunanidhi was biased toward his partymen.
The former chief minister said since the DMK government assumed office, several 'planned' violent incidents had taken place in different parts of the state taking this into consideration its days in power were limited.
