Reddy lays foundation of a Sports complex at South Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy today laid the foundation stone of a sports complex at Chittaranjan Park in South Delhi, which would be ready by the time of Commonwealth Games in 2010.

Mr Reddy said it was due to lack of sports facilities in the country, India having a population of more than one billion could not achieve much in the field of sports.

''What the Delhi Development Authority(DDA) was trying to do today, would be a blessing for the entire area in future,'' he said.

He said the entire schedule of preparation for the Commonwealth Games was on course and would be completed well in time.

The area MLA Subhash Chopra said the Master Plan of Delhi-2021 would be finalised by the end of January 2007 and the government would find ways to give more concession to the shop keepers.

BJP leader and local MP Vijay Kumar Malhotra appreciated the work done by the DDA for the development of sports in the state.
