New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) The RSS today said the CPI-M is squirming in discomfort at the way its governments in West Bengal and Kerala had handled the issue of SEZ and ADB loan and is not hiding its glee at the way Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee had exposed the 'political cockfight' within the party by undertaking her 25-day fast to protest against the acquisition of fertile land for the Tata Motors small car project at Singur.

Organiser, the RSS mouthpiece, in its editorial observed that it was a 'delicious irony' that the SEZ and ADB loans had become a bugbear for the neo-bourgeois CPI-M. The boss of the party Prakash Karat was at pains to convince the cadre that the 'comrade brand of capitalism' was slightly different from the common place capitalism being practiced by mainstream political formations. The party's first brush with power at the Centre had embarrassingly exposed the Surjit brand of 'pragmatic power play' pursued by his disciples with gusto which had taken a 'tragic toll' on the public image and morale of the party.

While 25-day fast of Mamata was only a part of the story, the RSS said that ongoing, open and acrimonious internecine war between Kerala Chief Minister V S Achyutanandan and organizational wing led by P Vijayan has now turned out to be an ''entertaining political cockfight in history of the state which was considered a laboratory of proletarian democracy.'' The party and the partners are divided into rival camps right up to local level, the RSS observed.

The CPI-M may not admit the fact that Mr Vijayan was the darling of the elitist globalisation lobby like West Bengal Chief Minister Buddadeb Bhattacharjee was the poster boy of pro-reform comrades of the state.

The 'capitalist' media had showered encomiums on Buddha who had invited criticism from its own allies who were one with Mamata when she exposed the banality of Buddha's announcement that he was ready to hand over entire 997 acres of land to the Tatas while his another pet mega projects like two SEZs by Salim Groups had sparked off new waves of protests.

''Why should the government take upon itself the job of acquiring agricultural land for private industrialisation? The conventional Marxian wisdom should have been that if if somebody wants to set up industry he should be asked to buy the land at the market rate and there was no public cause in a private company setting up units for making profits,'' according to the RSS.

Turning to ADB loan issue where a Vijayan loyalist minister had signed the 221.2 million dollar deal without the nod from his Chief Minister who was openly opposed to the loan, the RSS said the fact was that V S had no control over his own ministers taking orders directly from the party headquarters.

The CPI-M dilemma, the RSS said, was 'exciting and understandable' because it was the only party which was successful in ingraining political manifesto into its grassroots about the governance that would have found a common cause with Mamata. ''The party has tripped and slipped into company of IMF and ADB votaries in the UPA in sight of power at the national theatre. The regular pilgrimages of Mumbai tycoons and western diplomats at AKG Bhavan have clearly swept the comrades off their feet,'' the RSS said.
