Djokovic ends Guccione's hopes to claim Adelaide title T
MELBOURNE, Jan 7 (Reuters) Serbian top seed Novak Djokovic toppled Australian giantkiller Chris Guccione 6-3 6-7 6-4 to win the Adelaide International today.
Wildcard Guccione had claimed the scalps of second seed Richard Gasquet and Arnaud Clement en route to his first ATP final but Djokovic proved to be an insurmountable hurdle.
Although the players are separated by 137 places in the world standings, the 153rd-ranked Guccione produced an entertaining display to the delight of the home fans.
After almost 2-{ hours of enthralling action, Djokovic sunk to his knees and kissed the court when he secured victory following a Guccione error.
