Shillong, Jan 7 (UNI) The six-member Administrative Reforms Commission, headed by Veerappa Moily has mooted the idea of having a common state civil services centre for the North Eastern region barring Asom.

The creation of this centre would provide better training skills for all the civil servants of the region in upgradation of their skills and also for building up their competencies, Mr Moily said at news conference here yesterday.

Mr Moily, who heads the Commission was here to elicit the state government and public views for better delivery of different services by government machinery to the people.

Mr Moily observed that there should be a linking of performance of Civil Servants and other Government personnel for socio-economic objectives and outcome.

''Asom is the only State in the region which has such centre,'' he said, informing that the IAS officers in Asom had been continuously taking up issues related to reforms in the civil services which other states in the region lacked.

The Administrative Reforms Commission was set up by the Union government to suggest ways and means to achieve a proactive, responsive, accountable, sustainable and efficient administration of the country at all levels of the government.

The commission is finalising its recommendations on ethics in governance, public order and conflict resolution. These recommendation will be submitted to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
