Guwahati, Jan 7 (UNI) The Centre today indicated that strong action against ULFA might be taken following the killing of 48 migrant Hindi-speaking people by the militant outfit.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad will visit Asom tomorrow.

Official source informed late in the evening that Mr Prasad decided to ''come as thousands of Biharis, braving curfew and cold, blocked the National Highway at Tinsukia with dead bodies.'' This has ''caused communal tension in the district'', which has a very large Bihari population, the sources said.

Following the killings, Union Minister of State for Home Sripakash Jaiswal said tough action was coming as more para military forces were rushed to the trouble torn areas. He also visited Tinsukia.

Talking to newspersons, he said militant groups should realise clearly the government would not be cowed down by any pressure.

He said final decision regarding the intensification of counter insurgency operation will take place only after he meets Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Home Secretary V K Duggal later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile a delegation of the Bihar government visited Upper Asom. However, there has been no mass exodus of Biharis from Asom neither there has been any report of any attack on the trains coming to Asom via Bihar, the NF railway source said.

Security has been put on high alert both in Bihar and West Bengal.
