Traffic police issues warning to motorists using dark films

New Delhi, Jan 6 (UNI) Delhi Traffic Police has warned motorists using black, dark or reflective films on windscreens and windows, to either remove them or face prosecution.

In the year just ended, punitive action was taken against as many as 53,390 motorists for using black, dark or reflective films on windscreens and windows under an intensified drive against such offences, a statement said today.

According to the Motor Vehicles Act, windscreens had to have 70 per cent transparency and windows 50 per cent.

Hence, motorists were advised to keep the windscreens and windows transparent and remove such films from their vehicles. Any violation would be dealt with severely, besides bearing a heavy fine such persons would also have to remove the films on the spot.
