Six Australian films to be showcased in Kolkata book fair
Kolkata, Jan 6 (UNI) Kolkata Book fair will provide a snapshot of diversity of the Australian society, with the excellence in film making, to the book lovers and the movie buffs this year.
The Kolkata Book Fair Film Festival on January 7 and 8 would for the first time feature six multi award-winning films of famous Australian film-maker Rolf de Heer.
Films like ''Ten Canoes'', ''The Tracker'', ''Dance Me to my Song'' and ''The Quiet Room'' had its presence at the International Film Festival of India in Goa, and would be screened in the Mumbai Film Festival from January 14-28, sources said.
''Our participation in the fair represents the shared english language and literature connections that exist between India and Australia,'' Australian High Commissioner to India John McCarthy said in its news release.
''We hope that the audience here will enjoy the depth of Australian literature,''he added.
The festival aims to showcase the multi-layered nature of Australian culture and society, Mr McCarthy added.
