Shabana to get Akkineni Award

Hyderabad, Jan 6 (UNI) Noted Actress and Social Worker Shabana Azmi has been selected for the prestigious Akkineni Nageswara Rao Award instituted to honour film personalities.

This was announced here by the Akkineni International Foundation today.

Talking to newsmen here, Dr Nageswara Rao said he was pleased that Ms Azmi was selected for the award.

He said the award would be presented to the actress at a function at the Ravindra Bharati in the city on January 13.

Mr Rao said the Dada Saheb Phalke Award presented to him in 1999 inspired him to launch the 'foundation' and institute the award.

He also said the foundation would take up several other social service activities and honour those committed to the well being of their fellowmen.
