Police arrests youth on charges of girl's murder

Tirupati, Jan 6 (UNI) Police arrested a youth on charges of murdering a girl student, whose body was found two days ago dumped in a stormwater drain at the rear of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) administrative office building.

Police sources said here the 16-year-old-girl, a Dalit, was killed by her boyfriend Vaudeva Reddy as she was asking him to marry her.

She went missing two nights ago and her parents informed police.

The body was found with slit throat, packed in a gunny bag, by conservation workers.

She was in the red garb of one who had taken a 'vrath' or austerity.
