Mahindra United to play three AFC matches in Goa

Panaji, Jan 6 (UNI) Mahindra United, Mumbai, will play their three AFC home matches at the Nehru Stadium Fatorda, Margao, due to a lack of international-standard football stadia in Mumbai.

Goa Footall Association (GFA) secretary Savio Messias, speaking to reporters here today, said Mahindra United will play the first match against New Radiant (Maldives) on March 20, the second against Happy Valley (Hongkong) on April 10, and the third against Arm Forces (Singapore) on May 8.

Meanwhile, Sport Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, who is also chairman of the local organising committee of the 11th NFL, has assured that Kadamba buses will be made available free-of-charge to football lovers from Panaji, Calangute, and Siolim to the Duler ground, and also from Panaji to Fatorda soon during the NFL matches in order to popularise the game further GFA president Shivanand Salgaocar, who was also present at the meeting, said that after the ODI cricket match in Goa on February 14 between India and Sri Lanka, all NFL matches will be shifted to Fatorda in the first week of March.
