JD(U) stakes claim in NDA quota in Punjab

New Delhi, Jan 6 (UNI) The Janata Dal (United) has expressed interest in contesting the coming assembly elections in Punjab and sent a delegation to hold discussions with the NDA leaders and its local state unit.

A two-member delegation, consisting of party General Secretary Javed Raza and Virender Vidhuri, will go to Punjab to hold discussions on seat sharing with NDA leaders and local unit president Inderjit Singh Saini, a party release said.

Party chief Sharad Yadav has discussed the issue with Shiromani Akali Dal President Prakash Singh Badal, it added.

Akali Dal is the senior partner in the NDA in Punjab.
