Delhi court clears Rahul Mahajan of drug tafficking charges

New Delhi, Jan 6 (UNI) A local court hearing the drugs case of Rahul Mahajan, son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, today cleared him from the charge of drug tafficking but framed charges against him and five others for possessing contraband substance for consumption.

It is alleged by the prosecution that Rahul alongwith Bibek Moitra consumed unspecified quantity of cocktail of drugs on June 1, 2006 at Mahajan's 7 Safdarjung Road Residence here.

The police filed chargesheet in this case on August 4, 2006.

Additional Sessions Judge S N Gupta framed charges against Rahul Mahajan alongwith another person Sahil under section 27, section 21, section 29 and section 25 of the NDPS Act.

Sahil was also charged under section 419 of the Indian Penal Code and Abdul alongwith Taibo, a Nigerian national, under section 21, section 29. Ganesh Kumar Sinha alongwith Harish Sharma, a close aide of the late BJP leader was charged under section 201 of IPC.

The Additional Sessions Judge ordered commencing the trial in the case on March 10.
