Blood samples of parents collected for DNA testing

Noida, Jan 6 (UNI) A team from Agra Forensic Lab today started collecting blood samples from parents of victims of serial killings in Nithari village here for conducting DNA tests.

The eight-member team, led by A K Mittal, was collecting the samples to establish beyond doubt that skeletal remains found were that of the kin of 17 claimant parents.

Parents of 12 victims had been given Rs five lakh each while ex-gratia cheques in five cases were in the process of being disbursed.

Accused in the case had allegedly owned up to 12 killings.

There were some apprehensions among some of the parents regarding the DNA tests probably because if a claim was found to be wrong it could lead to strict legal action against the 'bogus' claimant.

Many parents of missing children had come here from far and wide hoping to find a clue about their loved ones or wanting to draw attention of the authorities concerned to their plight.

Meanwhile, the forensic team continued for the third day their search of the house where the killings had taken place. It was examining every bit of material, everything from hair to dirt, in the house and taking into its possession anything they felt could be used as evidence in court.
