Blackberrys to strengthen its market presence in South India

Bangalore, Jan 6 (UNI) Blackberrys, a premium brand of contemporary clothing for men, has chalked out aggressive expansion and marketing plans to strengthen its presence in South India by opening more outlets.

Briefing newspersons here, Company General Manager (Marketing and Sales) Badal Chaudhry said South India was a big growing market and the company was keenly interested in expanding its retail presence.

The company would soon unveil its new premium collection of exclusively designed luxury trousers that reflected class and style.

He said Blackberrys' net brand turnover for 2006-07 was Rs 120 crore and grew above the industry average of 20 per cent per annum.

Mr Chaudhry said the company would spend Rs 25 crore to open exclusive brand outlets in various parts of the country during the next one year. The company proposed to open outlets in places such as Bangalore and Mysore and the total number was likely to cross 25 across the country by March next. Another 50 outlets would be added before March 2008, including 15 in the South, he added.

He said the demand for high end apparel was growing rapidly at the rate of 15 per cent to 20 per cent and the company would like to cash in on the opportunities. The existing production comprised manufacturing of nine lakh trousers and one lakh suits, he added.
