2 killed, 25 injured in south Kashmir blast

Srinagar, Jan 6 (UNI) Two persons were killed and 25 others wounded, some of them critically, in a grenade blast in south Kashmir district of Pulwama this afternoon, official sources said.

They said militants hurled a hand grenade towards a patrol party of 44 Rashitriya Rifles (RR) at Shopian, about 50 km from here in south Kashmir this afternoon. However, it missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside causing injuries to at least 27 persons, including four soldiers.

Two of the injured, Mohammad Yousuf and Mohammad Akram Shah died on the way to hospital.

The injured were admitted to different hospitals, they said.

A defence ministry spokesman told UNI the injured soldiers were admitted to the base hospital here. They were out of danger, he added.
