Thrower Anil Kumar was also awarded Rs one lakh and an out-of-turn promotion for making it to the Athens Olympics.

''ONGC employees started our Gold run in Doha and the first six yellow medals came through ONGCians. It's a huge moment of pride for all of us and I feel very privileged to lead such an organisation,'' ONGC Chairman and Managing Director RS Sharma said.

''We owe our success to our progressive policy of recruiting young and dynamic sportspersons. My only advice to you all is that it should not stop here and you should continue bringing laurels,'' he added.
