Nithari: Cong slams Mulayam's brother
New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) The Congress today reiterated its demand for an investigation by the CBI into the kidnapping and brutal killing of children at village Nithari in Noida near the national capital and launching of prosecution against the accused within six months.
The CBI should complete its inquiry within three months, followed by filing of charge sheet, Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said briefing media persons here.
He criticised as unfortunate the statement made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh's brother Shivpal Yadav playing down the gravity of the crime as a routine incident. "We understand that the Government in Uttar Pradesh was in the control of those who have nothing to do with the plight, screams and murmurs of the people," Dr Singhvi said.
He said the Mulayam Singh Government regarded such a grave crime as a petty incident because such incidents were very common in the State.
Mr Mulayam Singh was currently in Delhi but was unable to go to Nithari, he said and wondered why he was shirking from going to Nithari" when, as it is, he is being stripped of power." Mr Singhvi said it was unfortunate that even two years after the incident the police could not not recover the the 95 to 98 missing children. Inspite of that Mr Shivpal Yadav was giving a certificate of bravery to the police. "If this is an act of bravery, then one can imagine the fate of the people in the hands of the Chief Minister." Replying to a question, Mr Singhvi said the imposition of President's Rule was no solution to every problem. What the party wanted was action against the guilty, he said, adding the circumstances there certainly warranted imposition of President's Rule.
