I'll be first choice for prime ministership of Paksitan:Benazir

New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) Exiled People's Party of Pakistan leader Benazir Bhutto has asserted she will be the first choice for Prime Ministership of her country if her party returns to power in the next general elections likely to be held in October this year.

Ms Bhutto said the bar on a person from becoming prime minister for more than two occasion, incorporated in the constitution during the Military regime, would not come in her way, if her party wins.

''Such a ban had been in place in Turkey too, but when a party won the elections there, the law was scrapped. So this ban on me in my country can be removed too,'' she said in an interview to TV channel Aaj Tak to be telecast on Sunday night.

She also revealed what Nawaz Sharif had told her in London two years ago that in case their parties won elections in Pakistan, PPP should get the first chance for the post.

''The people of Pakistan love me, the party workers also want to see me as the Prime Minister. That is why it has been decided that I will be then Prime Ministerial candidate of the party,'' she said.

Asked if any agreement has been reached between Nawaz Sharif and her party, she said, ''We met in London to prepare a charter for democracy. We have a good working relationship and our goals are quite clear, We want democracy in the country... If both the parties fight together we will fight against the ruling party PMLQ, independents, some regional parties and military backed candidates''.

Dismissing reports that she had reached a secret understanding with Pakistan president General Pervez Musharraf and that was the reason that she had agreed to go back during the elections, she said there was no such deal.

''Of course there are back channel talks taking place, not just with me but also with Nawaz Sharif. What we want is democracy in Pakistan and we will settle for nothing less. I am going to Pakistan even if the establishment sends me to jail or disqualify me from contesting elections,'' she added.
