High Court directed WB Govt to file status report on land
Kolkata, Jan 5 (UNI) A two-judge bench of Calcutta High Court today asked the West Bengal Government to file a report in two weeks on its land acquisition policy.
The bench comprising Chief Justice B S Sirpurkar and Justice Arun Kumar Mitra passed the order on a Public Interest Litigation PIL) filed by one Kedar Nath Yadav, an agriculturist.
The court directed the government to state in its report the details of the land it so far had acquired and how much payment it has made so far on the acquisition of land.
The court also wanted to know the status of the land and for what purpose the land was acquired.
The case would come up for hearing after two weeks.
