'Fake DSP' arrested in Lucknow
Lucknow, Jan 5 (UNI) Police today arrested a sacked Uttar Pradesh policeman impersonating as a deputy superintendent of police here and recovered some sensitive documents from his possession.
Addressing a news conference here, Special Task Force (STF) SSP S K Bhagat said the 'fake police officer' Dharmapal Sharma (47) was nabbed from Kapoorthala in the posh Aliganj area.
Sensitive documents of the police department, two mobile phones, several SIM cards, a revolver, cartridges and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) were also recovered.
Even a fake appointment letter for deputy superintendent of police was found in his person, Mr Bhagat informed.
A resident of Neem village in Mathura district, Sharma had joined police force in 1976, but was dismissed in 1980 for his illegal activities.
However, he started to fleece unemployed youth in Agra and Mathura districts.
Sharma used to don police uniform and defraud unsuspecting unemployed youth by promising jobs for money.
The crook has several criminal cases registered against him in western UP, besides one in Madhya Pradesh, the SSP added.
