Cashbooks theft: FIR against IAS officer
Bhopal, Jan 5 (UNI) A first information report (FIR) has been filed against an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and two others in a case relating to the theft of 14 cashbooks from the Madhya Pradesh government's Protocol Branch in October 2006.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), which is the investigating agency, filed the FIR against the then Deputy Secretary (Chief Minister's Secretariat) Rajesh Mishra (IAS), the then Protocol Officer R N Sahay and Assistant Protocol Officer T Tigga, EOW sources said.
The cashbooks, containing details of expenses amounting to about Rs 18 crore over the past six years, went missing from an almirah without even a lock being broken at the office concerned.
Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahani initially directed Inspector-General (Bhopal Range) Sanjeev Kumar Singh to investigate but complexities led to the case being handed over to the EOW.
Just three days back, Mr Mishra was shifted as Secretary (Backward Classes Welfare).
