Warnie may be fined for dissent in farewell Test

Sydney, Jan 4 (UNI) Shane Warne may end up being fined in his farewell Test here after stump microphones picked him speaking rudely to umpire Aleem Dar following a turned down leg-before appeal against England skipper Andrew Flintoff.

According to a report in 'The Australian', England left-armer Monty Panesar may also be fined for excessive appealing in the ongoing Test.

Both teams have, however, denied any official intimation on the matter from match referee Ranjan Madugalle.

Warne took his 1000th wicket in international cricket when he trapped Monty leg-before in England's first innings but had several turned down and the champion spinner's anger boiled over after his LBW appeal against Flintoff did not meet with a positive response.

The exchange with Dar took place during Warne's follow-through after the umpire asked him not to block his vision of the batsman.

Warne's response, as reported by the newspaper, was not very friendly.

''You worry about getting it right at the other end, Aleem, and don't worry about where my foot's landing,'' he said.

Warne did not stop at that and asked Dar to check the leg-before law.

''Why don't you check the LBW law while you're there?'' he asked, to which Dar replied,''you look after your job and I'll worry about mine.'' Panesar, meanwhile, may end up paying for over-enthusiasm while appealing. The left-armer thought he had Michael Hussey caught behind and started celebrating without turning to check with the umpire.

Umpire Billy Bowden, who was standing at the bowlers' end at that time, spoke to Panesar and Flintoff after the incident.
