Teachers threaten to start agitation in Arunachal
Itanagar, Jan 4 (UNI) Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA) has decided to boycott classes throughout the state from January 15 to 19 in the first phase of agitation in protest against non-fulfilment of its various demands.
ATA demanded immediate halt to ''back door'' appointments of teachers and other regular vacancies, re-introduction of NCERT books in school curriculum etc.
The decision to start agitation was taken in an executive body meeting held here recently.
The ATA had also threatened to boycott state board and CBSE examination duties as its second and third phases of agitation, ATA sources said here today.
The Association also criticised the state government for its unwillingness to address these problems.
Welcoming Education Minister's recent assurance to bring NCERT books into school syllabus, the ATA regretted that repeated attempts were being made to go for costly private publications.
