Stolen car recovered, 1 held

Puducherry, Jan 4 (UNI) Puducherry police have recovered a car stolen from Tindivanam last evening and arrested one person in this connection.

According to a release here today, the Puducherry Police received information from Villuppuram Control Room that the stolen car was heading towards the union territory.

Following this, all police stations and traffic units were alerted and the car was found crossing the Nellithoppe Junction.

Though the traffic constable on duty tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped away. Police also made a vain bid to halt the car before the new bus stand.

Finally the car was stopped near Anna Square and one of the culprits, Jaba Seker(24) of Perungulathur near Tambaram, was arrested.

Two others -- Saravanan and Kumar -- also from Tambaram managed to escape. The gang was involved in several cases of robbery and murder in Chennai and nearby areas, the release noted.

The stolen car and the arrested person was handed over to the Tamil Nadu police.
