Shimla, Dec 4 (UNI) Extreme cold wave conditions continue to prevail in Himachal Pradesh despite another bright and sunny day today.

Temperatures at almost all places in tribal districts of Kinnuar, Lahaul Spiti and Chamba were below freezing point, despite no snow and rain in the state during the last 24 hrs.

The met office here said Kalpa in Kinnur district recorded a night temperature of minus 3.9 degrees Celsius, while the higher altitude areas of the tribal districts were recording night temperatures between minus 10 to minus 15 degrees.

Night and day temperatures in the mid and lower hills of the state continue to remain low due to dense early fog, forcing drivers to drive with their fog lights on even during the day.

Despite a clear sky over Shimla and other adjoining areas, people continued to shiver under biting cold conditions with the state capital recording a night temperature of 3.8 degrees Celsius.

The met office said Sundernagar in Mandi district and Bhuntar in Kullu district had recorded night temperatures of minus 1.5 and 1.4 degree Celsius respectively.

The met office has predicted mainly dry weather in the state during the next 24 hrs.
