As part of efforts to avert the problem of flight delays due to low visibility at the airport due to dense fog, a new CAT III compliant Rapid Exit Taxiway was opened at the Indira Gandhi International Airport yesterday.

Delhi International Airport (P) Ltd (DIAL), a joint venture company consisting of GMR Group, Airports Authority of India, Fraport, Eraman Malaysia and India Development Fund which has been working towards the modernisation and reconstruction of the Delhi Airport, announced the opening of Bravo 3 (B3), a new CAT III compliant Rapid Exit Taxiway which would facilitate the exit of aircraft from runway 10-28 on to the domestic apron and towards the additional CAT IIIB compliant parking stands being added.

The IGI Airport is the only airport in the country to operate a CAT IIIB Instrument Landing System, which allows aircraft to land even when runway visibility is as poor as 50 meters.
