Promoting brotherhood across the world through Literature fest
Mumbai, Jan 4 (UNI) The first 'International Literature Festival 2007', to promote brotherhood, freedom, justice and equality among all the citizens of the world, will begain here from February 20.
The Shahir Amarshaikh Loknatya Kala Prabodhini and International Literature Festival-Berlin will be organising the six-day event that would see the presence of great literary personalities from across the world.
''Communication in any language makes us, humans, 'one' from around the world. In this age of globalisation, even human values can travel and be shared,'' author and Director of the festival, Rajvinder Singh, who resides in Berlin told mediapersons here.
He praised the tolerance level among Indians and the ability of the nation to inculcate and imbibe various aspects of different cultures, including language and literature, that come into the country.
More than 20 authors and literary personalities from around the world will participate in the festival, apart from Indian writers and poets presenting writings in almost all the Indian languages, Padamshree awardee and organiser, Namdeo Dhasal said.
In fact, it was Mr Dhasal's dream that the festival be organised in India, added Mr Singh.
While Human Resource and Development minister Arjun Singh has accepted to be a part of the festival, Director of the international literature festival of Berlin, Ulrich Schreiber will be the chief guest.
Planning Commission Member, Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar has accepted to be the guest of honour.
