PMK express happiness over OBC reservation

Chennai, Jan 4 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder leader S Ramadoss today expressed happiness over President A P J Abdul Kalam giving assent to the OBC Reservation Bill, paving the way for the implementation of 27 per cent reservation in higher educational institutions from the 2007 academic session.

In a statement here, he said ''the President, before coming to Tamil Nadu, the birth place for social justice, had laid the next milestone in social justice by giving assent to the Bill and we welcome him with folded hands on behalf of the people of the state.'' Dr Ramadoss, a strong advocate of reservation, said educational institutions should come foward to provide 27 per cent quota without any hesitation and should not show any slackness in creating additional seats for the purpose.

He said the authorities should hold entrance test for admission only after the educational institutions allocated the number of seats for other backward classes.
