Party will fight Assembly polls on its own:Congress
Basti, Jan 4 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Congress today asserted that it would fight the forthcoming Assembly elections on all 403 seats.
Talking to mediapersons here, UP Congress Committee (UPCC) National General Secretary Ashok Gehlot said ''the preparations for the coming Vidhan Sabha polls have started on full swing. I am confident that the next government would be of Congress as its mass base is increasing rapidly.'' ''People have seen the rule of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and at present, Congress is the right choice,'' Mr Gehlot maintained.
Hitting out at the SP government in UP, Mr Gehlot alleged instead of developing 'Uttam Pradesh', SP had established 'jungle raj' in the state.
Expressing concern over the 'dismal' law and order situation in UP, he added ''the number of criminal activities had trippled in the reign of the present government, while the sad part of the story is that it is 'hand-in-glove' with the criminals.'' UP Chief Minister had time to attend functions in New Delhi but he does not have time to meet the victims in Noida.
He reiterated the party's demand for implementing President's rule in the state, alleging free and fair assembly polls are not possible under the rule of SP.
