NFL promises thrilling matches this year: Bhutia
Bangalore, Jan 4 (UNI) Ace striker Baichung Bhutia today predicted scintillating football during the 11th National Football League, which commences tomorrow in Delhi.
''This season the league will be a thrilling one, with the participating teams being well balanced,'' the Mohun Bagan skipper said.
The Mohun Bagan team, which arrived here in the afternoon, would take on local league champions Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in their first encounter on January 6.
Talking to newspersons after the practice session, Bhutia said there were strong teams in the league, including Mahindra United, East Bengal, Dempo and JCT. Though Churchill Brothers had inexperienced players, it could also not be ignored, he said.
Regarding HAL, he said they had created a major upset by beating big teams earlier and they might repeat the same now also.
Responding to a question, Bhutia said his team might feel little weak in defence as four important players -- Brazilian defender Eduardo, Meharajuddin Wadoo. Subash Chakraborty and Tomba Singh--were injured. Sanjiv Maria had recovered from his injury and had joined the team.
To another question, he said ''I want my team to win this year's NFL.'' Mohun Bagan finished third in the last edition.
