MDMK rebel faction sends resolution on Vaiko to EC
Chennai, Jan 4 (UNI) Claiming to be the real Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK), the rebel faction today said it had sent to the Election Commission the resolution adopted at its recently-held General Council meeting in Salem, removing party General Secretary Vaiko from the post.
'We request the media to contact us hereafter for all MDMK-related activities,' the faction said in a release here.
MDMK Presidium Chairman L Ganesan and Deputy General Secretary Gingee N Ramachandran were suspended from the party after they raised a banner of revolt against Mr Vaiko and criticised his style of functioning.
The General Council meeting, convened by the rebel leaders at Salem on November 29, adopted a resolution removing Mr Vaiko from the party post and electing Mr Ramachandran General Secretary.
The resolution copy had been duly sent to the EC for recognition, the release said.
