K'taka Govt to launch new scheme for destitute women
Bangalore, Jan 4 (UNI) The Karnataka Government proposed to start a scheme called 'Asare' from next month, enabling provision of direct loans to educated, unemployed and destitute women to take up self-employment, State Woman and Child Development Minister H K Kumaraswamy said today.
Talking to reporters here, he said his department would identify 50 such beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 45 from each district and provide loan from Rs 50,000 to Rs two lakh.
The Minister said the Finance department had sanctioned Rs five crore for the scheme. At a later stage, the department planned to increase the number of beneficiaries to 100 at the taluk level.
