K M Mani demands resignaton of Education Minister

Kottayam, Jan 4 (UNI) Kerala Congress leader K M Mani today called for the resignation of Education Minister M A Baby in the wake of the High Court strictures against the Government on the Self-Financing Colleges Act.

At a news conference here, Mr Mani said quashing of Section 4 of the Act by the High Court should be viewed seriously and if the Minister had any dignity, he should resign.

Referring to the decision of the Students Federation of India (SFI) to stage marches to courts tomorrow in protest against the High Court verdict, Mr Mani said that if the government allowed the marches the V S Achuthanandan Government had to resign.

The Government should accept the verdict. Decisions of the judiciary were binding to the executive, he said and added that the SFI should not be allowed to take protest marches to the High Court and other courts.
