Kurukshetra, Jan 4 (UNI) The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) will campaign for Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) candidates in the Punjab assembly polls slated for February 13.

This was announced by Haryana INLD president Ashok Kumar Arora while addressing a press conference here.

He said if the BJP, an ally of the SAD (B), would ask for support to its candidates in Punjab, the INLD activists would work for them too as their main target was to give a ''crushing defeat'' to the Congress in the elections.

A similar approach would be adopted by the INLD in the assembly polls in Uttaranchal and Uttar Pradesh, he added.

Reacting sharply to the statement issued by Dr Ram Prakash, Working President of Haryana Pradesh Congress committee (HPCC) in Chandigarh, Mr Arora said the Congress needed to clarify its stand on the SYL canal issue as the Party's Chief Minister in Punjab had stopped the flow of the canal to the fields of Haryana by a legislation.

Mr Arora said the INLD would organise protest marches and demonstrations from January 9 to 17 at all district headquarters in the state against the escalating prices of all agro-inputs essential commodities, deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
