Indians move to PQF in British Junior Open squash

Chennai, Jan 4 (UNI) India's Ramit Tandon, Ravi Dixit and Aditya Jagtap moved into the under-15 pre-Quarterfinals the British Junior Squash Open at Sheffield today.

A release from SRFI release here said that Ramit Tandon defeated Malaysia's Cheong Kah Wah 6-9, 9-7, 1-9, 9-3, 9-1 in an exhilarating 65-minute encounter.

The win was sweet revenge for the 14-year-old, who had lost to Cheong in straight games last week in Scotland and also at the Asian Junior Individual Championship in June last year.

Joining Ramit in the last 16 were Ravi Dixit and Aditya Jagtap who made short work of their opponents. Ravi defeated England's Robert Downer 9-4, 9-1, 9-2 and Aditya defeated Arbab Dilawar of Pakistan 9-5, 9-1, 9-6.

Cyril Kuhn also had a fantastic five game victory in the Boys U-17 against Omar Magdy Ghanem, winning 7-9, 9-5, 9-2, 7-9, 9-7.

The only disappointment of the day for India was Dipika Pallikal's loss to Japan's Misaki Kobayashi 4-9, 4-9, 10-8, 9-1, 9-1 in the prequarters.
