IIT, IIIT institutes to come up in Bihar : Fatmi
Darbhanga, Jan 4 (UNI) Union minister of state for human resources development Mohammad Ali Ashraf Fatmi today said that one institute each of Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) and Indian Institute of Information Technology(IIIT) would be established in Bihar to cater to the needs of students aspiring for better technical education.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Fatmi said a proposal of according central university status to one university of the state was also under consideration.''An expenditure of Rs 600 crores would be incurred for establishing IIT institute while Rs 150 crores would be spent for opening IIIT institute,'' he added.
''A fund of Rs 2400 crores was released by the Centre under the literacy mission but the state government could utilise only Rs 300 crores so far during the current fiscal,'' he lamented.
Mr Fatmi said that 16 central schools had been opened so far in Bihar during the UPA regime while the NDA had established only four central schools in the state during its regime at the Centre. The Centre is ready to extend all kind of assistance to the state government in improving education standard in Bihar,'' he added.
