HP providing pension to over 2.12 lakh people
Shimla, Dec 4 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government provided social security pension to 43,249 people during the last three years, an official spokesman today said.
In all, the state government was providing social security pension to 2.12 lakh elderly, widows and physically handicapped in the state.
The spokesman said the state government had also opened four new Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS) at Shimla, Taundi Devi, Bhedu Mahadev and Haroli in addition to 10,894 anganwadi centres during the year, providing employment to 21,788 workers and helpers.
The Himachal Government was spending 48.71 per cent of the total budget on social welfare schemes besides Rs 399.18 crore, which had been earmarked for Scheduled Castes Component Plan, he said.
The government had introduced a number of welfare schemes for improving the lot of the women of the state during the year.
While the government was providing a grant of Rs 5,100 to the daughters of the destitute women under the Mother Teresa Asahay Matri Sambal Yojna, a sum of Rs 11,001 were being provided to a girl child under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Daan Yojna, he said.
The spokesman said encouraging results were being received under the government's poverty alleviation programmes of ''Swaranjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna'', which was being implemented after integrating IRDP, TRYSEM, DWACRA and SGSY.
