Haryana bans weedicide RIDER

Chandigarh, Jan 4 (UNI) The Haryana, government has banned the sale of weedicide RIDER, which is damaging for the wheat crop.

RIDER is manufactured by M/s Amson Laboratories Pvt Ltd Garhi Chhaju, Samalkha and marketed by M/s Yashika Agro Chemicals Pvt Ltd, Delhi.

Agriculture Department Director Rajesh Khullar said about 25 acres of wheat crop had been damaged due to the spray of this weedicide in Kaithal District.

Earlier, a weedicide sold under the brand name of 'JALWA' manufactured by M/s Agri Chem India, Sampla, Rohtak and marketed by M/s Hans Crop Care, Mumbai and brand 'KEPTAIN' manufactured by M/s United India Pesticides, at Nahan, Himachal Pradesh were also banned due to similar complaints.

He also said that all Deputy Directors of Agriculture in the State had been directed not to allow the sale of these products manufactured by the above companies.

He said that strict action would be taken against the manufacturers of such weedicides as per the provisions of the Insecticides Act, 1968 and the related rules.

He advised the farmers to use only popular and recommended brands of weedicides for controlling the menace of weeds.
