Electrostatic Precipitator commissioned at Malabar Cements

Palakkad, Jan 4 (UNI) Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem today inaugurated the Electrostatic Precipitator for control of air pollution from the state-owned Malabar Cements Limited at Valayar today.

The new system installed at a cost of Rs 5.5 crore as per the guidelines of the State Pollution Control Board would reduce air pollution from the present 150 milligramme per one cubic metre to 50 milligramme per one cubic metre.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kareem said Principal Secretary to the Industries Department would inquire into the preliminary report of the Comptroller and Auditor-General about loss suffered by the company due to mismanagement and action would be taken against those responsible for it on getting the report.

He said the government's policy was to revive sick public sector units and three sick units had started working. The government would also appoint professionals as Chief Executives of PSUs.

Electricity Minister A K Balan gave away orders regularising the service of 15 casual labourers of the factory.
